Zuniga's Book Box on Tenth Avenue

Zuniga's Book Box, a Little Free Library, is ready to kick off. Initially it will overflow with children's books and adult literary fiction and fantasy. Jesse wants the outside to be patriotic, so red, white and blue it is.

My consultants on stocking the children's books are Rylan, Sean and Carys. Rylan went through my stack and told me to start with books he recognized from school. Sean likes trains, trucks and tractors and anything "Frozen." Carys likes board books with bold pictures, which double as chew toys.

I bought a load of children's books at the rummage sale at Heart of Longmont. The church ladies liked the idea of Little Free Libraries and sold me a ton for 5c a book. At checkout at King Sooper's the young guy at the register asked me what was exciting in my life--and gave me a $3 coupon for the children's books in my basket. At garage sales all over town I've cherry-picked the best kids books, and the folks were lit up about it. I love this project!

I started a Facebook page, Zuniga's Book Box, where I'll post about the books we put out and the folks who stop by.
