I took the Sea Turtle today to show everyone how it looks framed. Show & Tell never ends. This was painted especially for Rylan's room. Mary's counted cross-stitch is already there in a similar frame. Believe you me, counted cross-stitch takes FOREVER. Don't tell Rylan about the turtle, I want him to be surprised on Saturday. I think he is going to like surprises. Happy birthday from Grandma, Rylan!
It's lovely to work in Hanlie's studio--most of us sit around a long table with our paper and paints and brushes and palettes spread around us. Today, we heard a loud boom! and the power went out, but we were able to carry on with the sunlight flooding through the windows. The whole neighborhood was without power for over an hour. Mid-morning Hanlie always brings down a tray with coffee and tea, and usually she bakes or one of us students provides high carb treats, scrumptious smelling, a pleasure. Today she heated the water in a kettle on the outside grill. What a treat to have someone bring you tea and ask kindly if you would like milk or sugar to go with your diet bar.
I'm working on a series of flowers, increasing in complexity. Today I started on "Asiatic" Elodie double lilies, pale, very pale pink, almost salmon, no shrimp. I finished the drawing and started on a few petals. Hanlie: "Those lilies look lush and full and sexy." Me: "How else?" (Well, I have heard that before, albeit it's been a while.) She's patient.
Bobette gave me a ride down to the highway, where I was picked up by the green Access-A-Ride bus and returned home, which was great, given the ridiculous amount of supplies I think I can carry.
