First Snow

Christmas Bazaar
The merchants and storekeepers and even more the ski resorts were happy happy happy to see our First Snow of the Season.  What season is that?  The Christmas Season, of course.

Sadie loves running in the snow.  I almost typed "running in the now" which would be a different conversation altogether!  Anyway, happy girl.  The squirrels are out in numbers.  Sadie is learning not to chase squirrels and send me spinning on the ice.  Today she had a staredown with a squirrel and didn't even bark, just turned away.  Yay, Sadie!

A boy with a sled wore the snow off the hillside trying to tobogan down.  This afternoon two smaller children were recording their footprints in the remnant of snow by my porch.  I find that in living on the north side my bushes stay decorated in snow longer.  The ice  lingers on the sidewalks, too.

Today was the annual church bazaar.  Someone said there were 90 booths this year!  I bought myself a much needed scarf for winter *bright lemon yellow!  So-o-f-f-t.  You couldn't beat the price.  All kinds of crafts, jams and jellies, wooden toys, wreaths, doll clothes, Christmas stockings, jewelry, attic treasures, plants, ornaments, cookbooks old and new.  United Methodist Women working the bazaar wore rainbow-striped aprons. The baked goods smelled SO good. Mom ran her church's bazaar for a good 30 years and participated in it another 30 before that.  It's tradition.  The church craft bazaar echoes the first snow, it says Christmas is coming.
