One word exclaimed in the little voice of your one and only grandson is guaranteed to make your heart sing: "Grandma!"
Aunties, grandparents and Rylan's very short friends and their parents gathered at Belleview Park to celebrate Rylan's second birthday. Rylan's friends shyly and with many promptings told him "Happy Birthday" and similarly Rylan thanked them for coming.
The park was filled with children and balloons as all the summer birthdays seemed to being celebrated. One tree over, a pinata waited its jolly fate at a party for somewhat older children who splashed in the shallow creek nearby.
While there was a great deal of unorganized moving about of little ones, too little for organized games, they enjoyed the cupcakes and the petting zoo. The highlight for young and old was train. Rylan took my hand when I arrived for a walk to see the choo-choo. After four rides, or maybe five, with an assortment of eager adults, he didn't want to go again. "Done," he said.
By 12 the children were receiving their goody bags and being packed up for afternoon naps. A lovely morning in the park.
