A Bang-Up 4th with a Ban

Even with a ban on fireworks, it was possible to have a lovely Fourth of July.

Nothing like a small-town parade in the company of children to make a holiday a delight.  Altogether we were two sets of grandparents, an auntie, a mom and dad, a little boy and a baby at the Niwot parade.  The parade was short, but it had all the necessary ingredients:  marching band, color guard, children parading, a rodeo queen on horseback, politicians, Thunderbird convertibles, Model A's, a couple floats, and, not least, fire engines.  With all the fires in Colorado, the fire fighters are the heroes of the day, and the fire and rescue units were roundly cheered, especially by one little boy.
