The past year I've not been painting or writing, for health reasons, primarily, health of both my husband and myself. But spring is nearly here, and Lent is beginning. The unseasonably warm temperatures in Colorado are urging the tulips and daffodils to an early bloom, and perhaps I can blossom as well.
This past year at Heart of Longmont church we have had a Go Green emphasis since last year, with a video, theological studies and light bulb exchanges to name a few. I loved the quilt show especially.
One of my projects has been to set up the Heart Gallery. Painters and photographers have been generous in sharing their work reflective of the wonder of creation in a rotating exhibition, "For the Beauty of the Earth."
My own paintings are best loved by children. In fact, my fan base seems to be composed of little boys. Some of my watercolors have been sold or given away, but I have enough left to hang as the featured artist for February.
I must agree with the hymn writer Natalie Sleeth in "Hymn of Promise": In the bud there is a flower, in the seed, an apple tree . . . unrevealed until its season. Something God alone can see."
