Back at the Y

It's May, lovely May, the time when my joints and muscles relax and yearn to be young again. So, back to the Y.

For my first day I'm being cautious, kind of like a first date. Only four walking laps around the track and 10 minutes on the stationary bike, letting my artificial knee barely flirt with exercise.

The  Y has remodeled since last I was here. Jesse likes the new carpet, which he can walk on with his cane without his previous dread of the slick tiles.

I like the little cafe feel of the front lobby's tables and chairs, where free coffee is provided. I notice the magazines have disappeared from all the lobby and rest areas--don't want to encourage loafing, I suppose: "Back to the track, slacker!"

I headed for the cafe to while away the hours until Jesse finishes his routine with the weights. Unfortunately for me, they are out of coffee, though the donor coffee shop promised a delivery later today.

So, I'm waiting by the pool, where the furniture is upholstered and Wi-Fi is available. Maybe Friday I'll get in the water--I'm told they added heaters in the renovation, so it's no longer a frigidarium. We'll see.
